ACTEM is pleased to announce the tenth annual Maine Educator of the Year Award. The intention of the award is to seek out exceptional educators who use educational technology to impact student learning. Beginning this year, there are two categories which educators can apply for. The categories honor one teacher and one leader who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and leadership in implementing technology to improve education.
Alice Barr, Technology Integrator at Yarmouth High School, and Cheryl Oakes, Collaborative Content Coach for Technology in the Wells Ogunquit Community School District, co- chairs of the ACTEM Educator of the Year Committee are pleased to announce for ACTEM, Association for Computer Technology Educators of Maine, the 5 educators recognized at the October 16, 2008 Dinner at the Augusta Civic Center in Augusta, ME.
The Educator Leaders for the year Jan Kolenda, Technology Coordinator in the Maranacook Area Schools, received the Award, and Laura Richter, Technology Integrationist, and Bruce Mochamer Middle School principal at Skowhegan Middle School, shared the finalist positions. These educators exemplify the commitment to visionary leadership in Maine schools.
The Teacher Leaders for the year, Leah Tondrea Welch, Grade 2 teacher from Earl. C. McGraw School, Hampden, ME, received the Award and Ernie Easter, grade 7/8 teacher in New Sweden Maine. was the finalist
