This form is for nominations for the Maine Leader of the Year
Definition of a Maine Leader of the Year:
All items in the Maine Educator of the Year definition except, more than 25% of their time is other than direct instruction with the Pre-K-12 population. This definition will be aligned with the ISTE Outstanding Leader definition; in the event that the Maine Technology Leader of the Year is further nominated for the international ISTE Outstanding Teacher.
Criteria:
1. The nominee’s work can be used as a model.
2. The nominee has demonstrated his/her ability to both deliberately plan for and incorporate the use of technology for the purpose of improving the educational setting.
3. The quality of education and/or work experience has been significantly advanced in the nominee’s workplace as a result of the nominee’s efforts.
4. The nominee works tirelessly to genuinely improve the quality of education.
5. Provided leadership in K-12 Maine school(s).
6. Had a positive impact on technology locally and/or regionally.
7. Demonstrated ethical/moral policies for technology use which set a model for the district.
8. Supported technology within the context of school reform, restructuring and improvement.
9. Demonstrated a commitment to ongoing self-education by keeping abreast of emerging technologies.
This award could go to: Superintendents, Principals, Media Center Staff, Curriculum Directors, or Tech Coordinators for it is the duties and responsibilities of one’s job that define one’s role, rather than one’s title.
