NEISTE Specials from FileMaker, CDI

MAR09 NEISTE CAMCarJim ACTEM 009.jpg
ACTEM reps Mark Arnold (left) and Michael Richards with Lee Rabbit of Rhode Island at Hartford NEISTE meeting.

Representatives from all seven affiliates of the New England International Society of Technology Educators gathered in Hartford, CT March 20-21. ACTEM was represented by Vice President Michael Richards, Conference Committee member Mark Arnold, and Business Manager Craig Dickinson
For the fourth consecutive year, NEISTE will host a New England reception at NECC with NEISTE President Dennis Crowe handling the arrangements. Date, time and Washington location are still to be determined. CDI computers of Toronto will sponsor the reception.
CDI and NEISTE are involved in negotiations that will hopefully allow special pricing to both NEISTE schools as well as individual members of each group.
FileMaker is offering NEISTE members special pricing of $119 on FileMaker Pro 10 individual licenses through September 30, 2009. The special also includes one year of maintenance, a benefit not provided in the former MVLA pricing.
The FirstClass ISTE special offering significant discounts on new licenses will continue through June 19, 2009. Details are on the ACTEM software page.
The New England states all handle membership differently. Connecticut's CECA is composed mostly of teachers. In Vermont every teacher in the state is given membership in Vita-Learn. New Hampshire is considering blanket membership also, possibly offering a more involved "preferred" membership. Rhode Island's RISTE offers a district-only membership and password protects their website, avoiding promotion in any way.
Massachusetts will move their Oct 28-29 MassCue Conference to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro and co-sponsor the annual event with the Mass. Superintendent's Association.
NEISTE's next business meeting will likely be in November.
