We encounter issues daily involving the use and abuse of technology that have substantial implications for the supervision and education of students and the management of school staff.
That is why it is important for board members and administrators who are involved in making policy and rules and enforcing them, as well as tech directors, to keep abreast of the issues addressed in this workshop.
The workshop will address the most current issues schools face due to the digital revolution both inside and outside of schools. Topics will include:
-Social networking - Student Issues; Staff Issues; Boundaries
-School Board use of email and the Freedom of Access Act
-Cyberbullying and the role of the school
-Legal liabilities due to inadequate management of student or staff use of technology
-The intersection between freedom of speech and digital communication
-Regulation of handheld devices
-Updating computer use policies for staff and students
-Digital record retention
