The 2024 theme will provide topics for technology leadership and their staff as they continue to support technology in Maine Schools.  This year's theme will focus on topics around Cybersecurity in Education.  
Last year's conference brought together over 175 of Maine's educational technology leaders and staff.  Join us in Portland as we get back together for our 7th annual Spring Leadership Conference!

Keynote Speakers

Doug Levin, K12 Six National Director

Doug Levin is co-founder and national director of the K12 Security Information eXchange (K12 SIX), a national non-profit dedicated solely to helping schools protect themselves from emerging cybersecurity threats. He is also the creator of the K-12 Cyber Incident Map, the most comprehensive database of publicly disclosed cybersecurity incidents in K-12 education, which serves as the foundation for the ‘State of K-12 Cybersecurity Year in Review’ annual report series.

KEYNOTE:  How It Gets Better  -- For those of us working in school systems, cybersecurity is the very definition of a wicked problem. Yet, students and educators rely on us to keep their work and information protected – and superintendents rely on us to keep schools operational – no matter what cyber criminals and malicious hackers may have to say about it.  Let’s explore how we can work together to improve school cybersecurity practices for all school systems.

Karl Ackerman, Distinguished Product Manager at Sophos

Karl Ackerman is a Distinguished Product Manager for endpoint protection at Sophos.  He has 15+ years in the cyber security space as a software developer, architect and product manager. Karl has a passion for security and a deep commitment to drive the criminal syndicates and nation-state actors off our networks and out of our devices.
